A TASTE OF SALT LAKE, CITY TOUR (9AM - 3PM)
This tour is a top-notch overview of Salt Lake City. Built from nothing but a desert by the industrious Mormon pioneers and host city of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, this tour is a complete look at what makes the Salt Lake Valley so unique. Your tour will begin in the historic downtown area and the world famous Mormon Temple, which took 40 years to build. Heading west guests will visit the beautifully restored 1908 Union Pacific Depot featuring French Renaissance architecture and original artwork. Just outside is the adjacent Gateway Mall and the Olympic Legacy Plaza featuring the Olympic themed “dancing waters”. Next, guests will head east thru the residential area known as the “Avenues”, listed on the State and National Historic Registers, and make their way to the University of Utah, founded in 1850. The “U” was the first University built west of the Missouri River and was the home of the 2002 Winter Olympic Village. Next stop, “This is the Place Heritage Park”- the landmark where Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. The Olympic Visitor Center Gallery and Cauldron Park located at Rice Eccles Stadium is the final stop. Rice Eccles was the site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Here guests can experience the chills, thrills and spills of the Games by strolling through the Olympic Art Gallery and watching the Games greatest moments on the multi-sensory, 180º theater.
Lunch will be served at local favorite, Squatters Brewery. The Squatters Building was originally constructed as a boarding house in the 1900’s and after many transformations and a 1989 renovation, it is Salt Lake’s original Brew Pub. Guests will enjoy the hip, rustic style and delicious selection at Squatters.
